The Ohio High School Athletic Association announced its 2022 football rules in a memo near member schools on Wednesday afternoon.
The first two weeks of the post-season are where the higher seed (improved seed) hosts the game. The games then move to neutral sites.
The regional semifinals, the third week of next season, will be played in neutral positions on Friday and Saturday night through the state semifinals. Beginning with the regional semifinals, there will be the next three rounds of the Division I, II, III and V and Division IV, VI and VII post seasons of Saturday night, 2022.
Although the OHSAA did not specify the reason for the change in the memo, the coaches responded that they would like to play Friday night, according to Tim Stride, director of OHSAA media relations. Schools found better attendance in all sports on Friday. At the same time, there is an agreement to divide the competition days when neutral sites start in the regional semifinals.

The OHSAA has also defined its adaptation period in the regulations. All five days of adaptation can be completed between 18-July and 31-July. Student-athletes who completed this adaptation in July may participate in full communication on 1 August.
All student-athletes joining the team for the first time at any time of the season after the first day of compulsory practice must participate within five days of any contact drill.
The regular season of OHSAA football begins the week of August 15 and ends on the first Friday night of August 19. The regular season ends on October 22 and the playoffs are announced on October 23.
The state finals will return to Canton this year with games scheduled for December 1-4 This is the second year of a three-year contract between OHSAA and Pro Football Hall of Fame.
